ABOUT US
Our Story
The Knights Landing Sportsmen’s Club (KLSC) began in 1948 when a small group of local outdoorsmen came together to share their love of shooting and hunting. That same year, we received our NRA Charter. Early meetings took place in the Scout Cabin, and our Rifle Team built a range at Camp 3 along the Sacramento River levee.
We’re proud of our founders—Jim Akin, Bruce Aseto, Bert Harris, Bill Leathers, Phil Nix, and James Easman—whose volunteer spirit still guides the club today.

Roots That Grew
As membership grew, the club purchased the property where we’re located now. A small range once stood where the current shop is, and in 1976 we built the 16-station range behind the main meeting hall—still the heartbeat of our marksmanship programs.

A Pheasant Tradition
Our first pheasant program launched in November 1949. In the early years we combined club-purchased birds with State Fish & Game releases, hunting 6,000 acres rented from River Garden Farms, plus a partnership with Robbins Community Hall for additional land in Sutter Basin. By 1950, access expanded to 18,000 acres for the season.
For the past 25+ years, we’ve sourced birds from local pheasant farms. Today, we release pheasants across River Garden Farms and the Sutter Basin near Knights Landing, keeping the experience authentic, ethical, and memorable.
